Of those sales, 20,877 units were commercial vehicles, helping give Ford its single highest sales month for CVs ever. Through the first quarter of the year, Ford’s total vehicle sales total 125,614 vehicles, up from 121,274 through Q1 2015. In that time, Ford is the leader in total vehicle, car, and commercial sales in the UK, and it maintains a 4.5-percentage-point lead in market share over its nearest competitor. Car sales in the first quarter totaled 93,897 registrations, 18,865 sales ahead of the next-best brand.

“Ford grew its UK total vehicle sales lead for the year-to-date as the result of sustained investment in our brand, the strongest dealer network in UK and the delivery of exciting products like the Mustang and the Focus RS, which has been awarded the much coveted Car of the Year by Top Gear magazine. Launches of new Ford vehicles continue with the all-new Edge joining the Kuga and EcoSport in our SUV range,” said Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director.
