Ford donates $50,000 to DAAA

Ford today is teaming with the Detroit Area Agency on Aging for the eighth year by donating $50,000 to its Holiday Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving program. The money will not only be put toward providing Thanksgiving meals to more than 6,000 homebound seniors throughout the Detroit area, but it will also help the DAAA fund its year-round meal service program.

In addition to its donation, Ford volunteers are also helping prepare meals at Valley Services in Detroit.

“Ford Motor Company has provided more than 40,000 Thanksgiving meals through this program over the past eight years,” said Pamela Alexander, director, Community Development, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We believe it is vital to provide healthy meals not just during the holidays, but year round, which is why Ford invests in hunger relief programs here in Southeast Michigan and throughout the U.S.”

Earlier this week, Ford also announced the donation of five new Transit Connect cargo vans to aid hunger relief and meal distribution in five major cities across the united states. Ford currently operates a national network of more than 50 mobile food pantries that have provided more than 6 million meals to people in need in the past five years.
