Ford Driving Skills for Life

Ford this month kicked off the 14th year of its annual Ford Driving Skills for Life program, which aims to provide teenage drivers with the tools necessary to be safer and more effective behind the wheel. The 2017 campaign will be aimed in particular at drivers aged 18-20, and it will utilize real-world and virtual-reality tools to teach these younger drivers skills necessary to navigate every day driving situations.

The 2017 iteration of Ford Driving Skills for Life kicks off February 4th-5th at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. From there, the tour moves to Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California from March 4th-5th and NRG Stadium in Houston from April 22nd-23rd. Additional dates will be announced as they are added at drivingskillsforlife.com.

“Driving safely is not about downloading the latest app,” said James Graham, global manager, Ford Driving Skills for Life. “We look forward to expanding our efforts to help reduce the number of crashes and fatalities through teaching real-world training and improved decision-making skills. Working with all of our partner organizations in 35 countries, we believe we are making a substantial contribution to safer driving.”

“Despite progress in recent years, teens continue to be overrepresented in motor vehicle crashes and fatalities across the country,” said Jonathan Adkins, executive director, Governors Highway Safety Association. “For this reason, the association and the State Highway Safety Office are looking forward to bringing this powerful program to even more teens and their parents—coast to coast and around the globe.”

The Ford Driving Skills for Life Tour, in partnership with the Governors Highway Safety Association, will visit 15 markets in the United States: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. At a global level, Driving Skills for Life will visit more than 150 different markets this year.
