The Ford Driving Skills for Life program this year made a stop in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, providing approximately 400 young drivers the skills and information necessary to be better, safer drivers. Thanks to a partnership between Ford Middle East and importer-dealer agency Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co., Ford Driving Skills for Life’s stops at King Saud University, Riyadh and King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah were able to address issues with drivers that contribute to an estimated average of 21 fatalities every day on the roads in Saudi Arabia.

“Ford is proud of its rich heritage around safety and it continues to be a key priority for us. Ford Driving Skills for Life was specially designed to make a profound and tangible impact among Arab youth, and help reduce the number of road accidents,” said Managing Director of Ford Middle East Thierry Sabbagh.

“Inexperience is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents among young drivers, so with this program we aim to provide students with all the key skill sets they need to help increase their knowledge and confidence on the road,” Sabbagh added.

“We’re delighted to be teaming up with Ford for Driving Skills for Life, and especially excited about the addition of night-time driving skills to the program,” said Muteb Al-Hassan, President of the Student Partnership Program at King Saud University. “Recent research has shown that poor night vision on the road is a source of stress for new drivers, with many fearing they might be involved in an accident, or even hit a pedestrian.”

Ford Driving Skills for Life enters its 14th year in 2017; this also marks the fourth year that the program has served drivers in the Middle East, where the program has helped inform an estimated 3,000 students between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
