Ford European Sales Growth

It seems like Christmas continued through January for Ford of Europe with Ford vehicle sales surging 9.2 percent year-over-year. Ford European sales growth nearly doubled that of the industry average in January (4.7 percent) in what was ultimately the automaker’s eighth consecutive month of sales increases in the major European markets. This vast increase in year-over-year sales also led to an increase in Ford’s total, retail, and commercial market shares.

Across all of Ford’s 50 European markets, Ford sold 90,700 vehicles, 80,800 vehicles of which were in the Euro 20 region. Ford’s total vehicle market share was 7.5 percent, which increased by 0.3 percent, while the retail market sale was 7.8 percent, which represents the twelfth consecutive month of retail share growth. Furthermore, Ford European sales growth for commercial vehicles was the highest it has been since 1998 with 10.4 percent—up nearly a full percentage point from 2013.

“Our sales and share growth—particularly in the higher value retail segment of the market—speak to the strength of our new vehicles and products,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president of Marketing, Sales, and Service, Ford of Europe. “We’ve launched 11 new vehicles over the past 15 months, and we’ll launch more than 10 additional new vehicles in 2014 alone.”

More than 10 new vehicles will be launched in Europe in the year 2014, including the Tourneo Courier, Transit Courier, Transit, Mondeo family, Mondeo Hybrid, and the C-MAX Energi hybrid.
