Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy

Ford Motor Company has announced that it will be teaming with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) to expand the Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy (HFEA) workshop, bringing it to the United Arab Emirates for the first time.

The HFEA workshop will emanate from the Sharjah Women’s campus at University City on November 14th-16th this year. There, entrepreneurs from around the UAE will learn first-hand from experts representing Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), as well as from local entrepreneurs with advice on how to seed, grow, and sustain a business idea.

According to the Arab Youth Survey, business training aimed at fostering entrepreneurial endeavors could help the up-and-coming generations in the effort of moving the region ahead on the global stage.

“The results of the Arab Youth Survey have proved the importance of providing innovative opportunities for the next generation of businessmen and women,” said Simonetta Verdi, Director, Government and Community Relations, Ford Middle East and Africa. “A business-oriented and highly-focused approach to learning, assisted by the training and opportunities generated by the Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy workshops can help participants gain important entrepreneurial skills, generate innovative ideas, and become more prepared for the future.”

Applications for the three-day workshop are open through October 20th. Tuition will be provided by the Motor Company Fund, and one lucky participant who does the best job of demonstrating their poise and vision will earn $1,000 in seed money for their project.

“Students selected to participate in the HFEA will have the opportunity to shape their thinking and learn how to build their future businesses using best international practices. HCT expects to host further HFEA workshops across its system to allow many more of our students to consider setting up their own ventures,” said Higher Colleges of Technology Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi.
