Ford Motor Company February 2018 Sales

Ford Motor Company delivered a total of 194,132 vehicles in February, a decrease of 6.9% year-over-year. Retail sales were down 8.5% at 123,073 vehicles delivered, and fleet sales fell 3.8% at 71,059 vehicles. Ford brand sales were down 6.1% at 187,432 vehicles delivered, and Lincoln was down 23.4% at 6,700 vehicles delivered.

While sales volume was down, average transaction prices (ATPs) were up, increasing $2,100 from February 2017 and beating the industry average at $36,200 a pop thanks to the popularity of Ford and Lincoln’s more opulent trim options.

“Our higher trim level vehicles are really resonating with our customers, who are looking for more content and technology than ever before,” Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, US Marketing, Sales, and Service. “This is especially true of our trucks and SUVs. Our all-new Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator are moving fast, as we work to increase our output to keep up with our customers’ passion for these two vehicles.”

February was also an historically big month for the F-Series, with sales totaling 68,243 trucks delivered to bring F-Series its best February sales performance in 18 years and its 10th consecutive month of year-over-year gains. High demand for Crew Cab trucks helped bring ATPs to $47,200 per truck, up $1,500 year-over-year and about $3,400 better than the segment average.

The 2018 Ford Expedition proved strong at retail with a 41.4% year-over-year gain and an average rate of 13 days-to-turn. The popularity of the Expedition’s Platinum trim—accounting for about 31% of all namebadge sales—helped drive a $10,900 increase in ATPs for the SUV in February.

To date, Ford Motor Company’s US sales total 355,275 vehicles, down 6.8% year-over-year. Ford brand sales are down 5.9% at 342,165 vehicles, and Lincoln sales are down 25.2% at 13,110 vehicles.
