Ford Fiesta ST, Galaxy MPV Win What Car? Awards
For the third year in a row, the Ford Fiesta ST has been named the best hot hatch in the United Kingdom according to the 2016 What Car? Awards. With the Fiesta once again positioned to be the best-selling small car and the second-best-selling vehicle overall in Europe, never mind the all-time best-selling vehicle in UK history, it seems like a relatively easy choice.
In 2015, Ford sold 130,000 Fiestas in the UK. Of those, 5,000 were the high-powered Fiesta ST. Since 2013, the Fiesta ST has averaged around 6,100 registrations a year, signifying its position as the preferred hot hatch in the UK.
“The enthusiast scene is still frothing at the mouth about the brilliance of the ST.” said Jim Holder, What Car? editorial director. “Simply put, it’s everything you want in a hot hatch: fast enough to thrill, but not so fast as to scare, small enough to fit easily down tight back roads, and with alert, corner-hungry handling that’s joyful even on mundane roads.”
Additionally, the Ford Galaxy MPV was named the Best Multi-Purpose Vehicle, with the Galaxy Zetec powered by the 2.0-liter TDCi diesel engine named the best model in the range.
