Human Rights Campaign 2018 Best Places to Work Corporate Equality Index

Ford Motor Company has the unique honor of being the only automaker to be named among the Best Places to Work in the Human Rights Campaign’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index and appear on the HRC’s inaugural Equidad MX Report.

The 2018 Corporate Equality Index assesses companies in the United States based on their corporate policies and practices as it relates to LGBTQ rights in the workplace. Ford has been named in HRC’s Corporate Equality Index every year since 2004, when it became the first automaker to earn a perfect 100% score—a feat that it has repeated every year since.

“Ford remains committed to supporting diversity and inclusion because we believe it makes our company stronger” said Meeta Huggins, Ford chief diversity officer. “We are proud of the people, programs and policies that have continued to earn us recognition as one of the Best Places to work for LGBTQ Equality.”

The first-ever 2018 HRC Equidad MX Report applies the same assessment to employers in Mexico, determining their worth based on the caveats of adoption of nondiscrimination policies, creation of employee resource groups and/or diversity and inclusion on councils, and public-facing engagement in activities that support the LGBTQ community and promote inclusion.

Ford was one of just 32 companies to make the cut in the first-ever Equidad MX Report, joining the likes of Google, AT&T, and Procter & Gamble.

“These employers have invested in LGBTQ inclusion in the workplace because it is both fair and smart business. The 32 honorees know that the economy of tomorrow is built by today’s talent and becoming more inclusive is key to attracting and retaining the best workforce,” said Deena Fidas, HRC Director of HRC Equidad MX and Workplace Equality Programs. “We commend all of them on this designation of being a ‘Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Inclusion’ and look forward to continuing our work together in the coming years.”

Because of its status as one of HRC’s Best Places to Work, Ford was also named to the organization’s 2018 Buyer’s Guide.
