The sporty, quick, stylish Ford Focus ST

In our current society, with plastic surgery available to combat all signs of growing old and more anti-aging creams available than ever before, everyone’s on a quest for the fountain of youth. It looks like Ford has found it with the revelation of Ford Focus ST sales figures; the sportier version of the popular Ford compact seems to bring more young buyers to Ford than any other vehicle in its lineup.

With just under 12,000 units sold since its introduction, 32 percent of those Focus ST buyers are under the age of 35, a much higher percentage than the 22 percent of under-35 non-ST Focus buyers. The ST has the same modernized and sleek design of the redesigned Focus, but with a more performance-oriented set up with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that has 252 horsepower and a 0-60 time of six seconds, making it more appealing to youngsters. It’s no surprise that this appealing model has increased the younger generation’s interest in the Ford brand, benefitting models such as the Fusion and Escape.

“It’s having the kind of halo effect for other vehicles we’d hoped for when we invested in the ST brand,” said John Felice, vice president of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “We continue to build through word-of-mouth and terrific reviews. As an affordable high-performance vehicle that can serve double duty as a daily driver, it has no equal.”

And we couldn’t agree with John Felice any more—there seems to be few equals compared to Ford Focus ST sales, particularly when it comes to reeling in a younger audience. Do you agree?
