Ford Motor Company Fund announced in January that it will be teaming with Ford Dealers Civic Committee and United Way Mexico to launch its Ford Driving Dreams program in Mexico. In addition to delivering more than $350,000 in resources including books, activities, and scholarships, Ford Fund will offer activities for students from Ford school #89 “Ricardo Flores Magón” and Ford’s public schools in the city of Tlalnepantla de Baz.

“Helping to make people’s lives better depends in great part on providing students with the tools and resources to help them succeed. We are proud to bring the Ford Driving Dreams Tour to Mexico and inspire children to stay in school by giving them access to opportunities, scholarships, and resources,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services.

Over more than half a century, the Ford Dealers Civic Committee has helped promote education for elementary-aged students in Mexico and currently operates 193 Ford schools in the country that support approximately 80,000 students and have graduated an estimated 1.6 million.

Ford’s Driving Dreams program this year will offer literacy activities and book donations at Ricardo Flores Magón in support of more than 400 students from first through sixth grade. On the following day, 500 sixth-graders from seven Ford schools will take part in a motivational rally.

Ford will also be offering a “What Drives Your Dreams?” essay contest with the winner taking home a three-year scholarship from United Way Mexico.

“This is a very important and exciting opportunity for our students,” said Gabriel López, President y CEO, Ford Mexico. “I am grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with Ford Fund, Ford Dealers Civic Committee, and United Way Mexico to make a difference in the lives of our young people.”
