Ford Grows Partnership with USC Shoah Foundation
The Ford Motor Company Fund is extending its commitment to the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education by helping to continue the expansion of the IWitness multimedia program.
“The work of USC Shoah Foundation is incredibly inspiring, as it is making a huge difference in so many people’s lives,” said Bill Ford, Ford Motor Company executive chairman, who earned the USC Shoah Foundation’s Ambassador for Humanity Award in May. “We are excited to partner with USC Shoah Foundation to engage young minds, bring history to life and encourage today’s youth to build a better future.”
The IWitness website hosts more than 1,500 life histories and testimonies of survivors and witnesses of genocide throughout history, including the Holocaust. IWitness is geared toward educators in the hopes of teaching future generations about the importance of standing up against intolerance and developing a sense of empathy, as well as skills such as digital literacy, editorial ethics, and archival curation.
Ford will also act as one of the main sponsors of the IWitness Video Challenge for the next two years. The IWitness Video Challenge invites students in North America to bring positivity to their communities through innovation and creativity. Students are tasked with creating testimony-based videos about their experiences in making a difference.
