New Ford Fiesta

The all-new Ford Fiesta is hot. Red-hot, even. Hence the photo above, wherein you’ll see a Ford Fiesta in red set against a red background and being ogled by a woman in red carrying a red bag. Because red-hot.

Because of this hotness (and redness), Ford in December made the determination to boost production at its Cologne, Germany, assembly line by an additional 100 units per day. These are the kinds of measures an automotive company must take when a product is so very red-hot.

“The previous Fiesta was already a much-loved car, and if you add to that the many improvements offered with the new model, including our unique pedestrian detection system, this success is not altogether a surprise,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales, and Service, Ford of Europe.

Ford extended existing shifts at the Cologne assembly line and added Saturday shifts in November and December to bring total daily output to 1,500 Fiestas. Given that November registrations of the Fiesta in the UK totaled 6,434 vehicles and totaled 4,660 vehicles in Germany, the increase in output is necessary and warranted.

The all-new Ford Fiesta, having not yet introduced the highly-anticipated Active crossover variant, has already taken home 10 different trophies for excellence, including Carbuyer.co.uk’s Car of the Year and the Women’s World Car of the Year Best Budget Car, as well as a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
