Ford India August sales thrived behind the EcoSport SUV
Ford India August sales totaled 14,902 vehicles when combining domestic wholesales and exports, resulting in a 27 percent year-over-year increase. While domestic wholesales were down from the year prior (6,801 units compared to 8,008 units in 2013), exports were up huge with 7,291 vehicles (compared to 3,057 vehicles from August 2013).
“We anticipate a continued revival in customer sentiments as we lead up to the festive season and are prepared to meet the higher demand for our cars, including the popular Ford EcoSport,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India.
Among the biggest gainers in India during August was the Ford EcoSport, which also crossed an impressive milestone of 100,000 combined sales. Of those sales, more than 60 percent of all EcoSports went to drivers within the country, making it one of India’s most popular models.
“Alongside planning for a third-shift at our Chennai plant, we have significantly reduced the waiting period for most variants of the Ford EcoSport to ensure that more and more customers can drive into the festival season with their favorite urban SUV,” Piparsania added.
The EcoBoost is currently being exported to markets throughout Europe and in countries such as South Africa, Taiwan, and Australia.
