Ford Invests $500 Million into Ohio-Built 2015 F-150 EcoBoost Engine

Ford has announced that it will invest $500 million into the Lima, Ohio assembly plant that will be responsible for manufacturing the 2.7-liter EcoBoost® engines that will power the 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
In addition to the considerable endowment for the Lima Engine Plane, Ford will add 300 new jobs to help support production of the new engine. Lima Engine Plant currently produces the 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter Duratec® V6 engines that grace the Ford Edge and Explorer and Lincoln MKX and MKZ among others.

“Lima Engine has kept Ford and Lincoln vehicles running for nearly 60 years,” said Bruce Hettle, Ford vice president, North America manufacturing, in Ford’s press release. “Bringing production of the new 2.7-liter EcoBoost to Lima Engine Plant helps build a solid future both for Ford and the dedicated workers in Ohio.”

There are currently more than 900 employees at Lima Engine, where the 3-millionth Duratec V6 was built this past March 13. It is anticipated that the 40-millionth engine made in Lima will roll off the line some time later this year.
