Ford December 2017 sales

For a ninth consecutive year, Ford Motor Company reigned supreme in Canada as the country’s best-selling auto brand in 2017. Ford sold a total of 37,623 cars and 271,046 trucks in Canada last year—including Lincoln-brand vehicles—for a grand total of 308,669 vehicles delivered, also making Ford the country’s top-selling automaker for a second year in a row. Total vehicle sales were up 1.3% from 2016, total car sales fell 19.9%, and truck sales were up 5.2% thanks in no small part to the 52nd year of pickup truck sales supremacy from the F-Series.

“Once again, consumers have given us their trust and confidence when it comes to purchasing a vehicle, making Ford the best-selling auto brand in Canada in 2017,” said Mark Buzzell, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd.

“Together with our dealer partners, we look forward to continuing to proudly serve our customers,” Buzzell added.

2017 marked the eighth straight year in which the F-Series stood as Canada’s best-selling vehicle overall. F-Series saw sales totaling 155,290 trucks in 2017, up 7% from 2016. Ford was also Canada’s best-selling SUV brand, a title earned through a 3% gain in sales for Escape, 14% gain in sales for Explorer, and 17% gain in sales for the Lincoln Navigator. In December, Explorer delivered a 10% year-over-year sales gain, while Navigator sales soared 69% in the midst of the launch of the next-gen model.

Despite an overall down year for cars, the Ford Mustang saw a 9% increase with 8,438 vehicles delivered, and C-MAX was up 66% at 1,414 vehicles delivered. C-MAX sales were also up 6% in December.
