Ford Donates Scholarship to Jackie Robinson Foundation
Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West may have ultimately lost to Seoul Little League in their quest to become 2014 Little League World Series Champions, but they succeeded in earning the admirations of not just Chicagoans, but of baseball fans all across America. Ford Motor Company is getting in on the action of honoring the team’s admirable performance by making a contribution on the team’s behalf to the Jackie Robinson Foundation college scholarship.

According to Ford, their contribution amounts to $10,000 a year toward a four year scholarship and will be awarded to a member of the Jackie Robinson West League beginning next summer.
“Ford Motor Company Fund salutes the tremendous impact these youngsters and the Jackie Robinson West league have had on Chicago and across the nation,” said Ziad Ojakli, group vice president, Government and Community Relations, Ford Motor Company. “Supporting education has been a cornerstone of Ford since the company was founded more than 100 years ago. We’re proud to build on that legacy and our long manufacturing presence in Chicago by assisting a student who best exemplifies the ideals Jackie Robinson represented.”

The Jackie Robinson Foundation was founded in 1973 by Rachel Robinson, the widow of the ground-breaking baseball star. In 40 years, the foundation has provided in excess of $65 million in scholarships to help support more than 1,450 undergraduate and graduate students.
