Ford Driving Dreams

Ford grew its Ford Driving Dreams tour last month by reaching out to help teens in international waters for the first time. Ford and Ford Fund kicked off the 2015 event in Panama City, Panama, where more than 300 teenagers learned valuable skills that help keep them in school and keep their futures bright.

The Ford Driving Dreams Tour will result in more than $50,000 in activities, grants, and scholarships being presented to students who are at risk for dropping out of school before completing their education. The tour stop in Panama is the result of a collaboration between United Way Panama and the Ministry of Education of Panama.

“For more than 100 years Ford Motor Company has worked to make a better world for the communities where we do business,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “The vitality and growth of every nation depends in great part on educating our young people, and we are excited to bring our innovative program for helping kids stay in school to Panama.”

The Ministry of Education selected the communities that are most in need due to socio-economic factors, and Ford swooped in to provide 19 different schools with a $2,000 grant to help provide vital resources for those children. Ford is also holding a “What Drives Your Dreams?” essay contest that will dole out $10,500 in combined scholarships to be administered by United Way Panama.
