Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men

Representatives from Ford and the Lincoln Motor Company took part in Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men this past weekend in Atlanta. The program, entering its eighth year in 2016 and executed by the Steve and Majorie Harvey Foundation, operates with the stated goal of empowering young African American men.

Ford has been the exclusive automotive sponsor of the event for seven years.

“Ford’s goal is to not only go further when it comes to our products, but also as it relates to our communities,” said Raj Register, manager, Ford multicultural communications. “The Steve Harvey Mentoring program gives us the chance to shape the future of today’s generation.”

Ford Warriors in Pink was present at the event, raising awareness about breast cancer and encouraging action among mothers.

Lincoln’s exterior design manager Earl Lucas lead the Ford Go Further Challenge, which had participants designing vehicles fresh from their imagination to express their creativity. Mike Simon, director, warranty operations for Ford Customer Service Division North American service engineering, was one of the judges for the contest, the winners of which earned a $1,000 gift card.

“Working with the boys, I could see that they have unlimited potential to be very successful in their lives and careers,” said Simon. “I hope our time together helped them see it too.”

Also taking part in the event was motivational speaker and life coach Tony Gaskins, who is set to star in an upcoming digital advertising campaign for Ford SUVS. Gaskins was part of a panel discussion involving influential African-American men.
