Ford, Lincoln Win Awards from Strategic Vision
Three of Ford’s most popular models—the F-150, Mustang, and C-MAX Energy—have earned Top Quality Impact awards from Strategic Vision in their respective segments. The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid was also given a TQI award for topping the Near-Luxury Alternative Powertrain (APT) Car Segment.
The F-150 won the award for full-size trucks due to its safety, quality, and performance. Strategic Vision was particularly strong on the F-150’s shift to aluminum alloy in the face of competitor brands emphasizing the importance of steel.
“Some auto manufacturers are hoping that attack ads on the Ford F-150 will convince shoppers of the lack of quality, hoping for similar success in election commercials,” said Strategic Vision President Alexander Edwards. “However, the Ford F-150 has provided a quality product combined with a strong positive emotional experience that makes it a leader. Ford buyers will continue to cast their vote with the F-150.”
The Mustang won the Standard Convertible Segment due to its image, power, and interior design quality. The C-MAX ENERGI took the Small APT Car Segment by a wide margin, conquering its nearest competitor by more than 150 points.
Ford also won the Total Quality Impact award for Corporation in a tie with General Motors.
“We see time and again that for consumers, innovation does more to communicate quality than an absence of problems does,” said Christopher Chaney, senior vice president, Strategic Vision.
The TQI awards are determined based on metrics including problems with vehicles (both in terms of frequency and severity); tangible aspects such as the feel of the vehicle when driving, the comfort of the seats, and the function of components within the vehicle; intangibles such as the infotainment interface, overall image conveyance, and thoughtfulness of design; and emotional aspects.
The awards are based on the survey responses from more than 39,000 new 2016 model year vehicle owners after their first 90 days of ownership.
