Ford Maintains Commercial Vehicle Sales Leadership in Europe for 2017

Ford Motor Company of Europe eked out a 0.5% full-year sales increase in 2017, delivering 1,358,100 vehicles across its traditional Euro 20 markets. Ford secured its third consecutive year as Europe’s leading commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturer with deliveries totaling 352,200 vehicles, up 7.2% from 2016; Ford’s CV market share also rose in 2017 by 0.3 percentage points, finishing up the year with a 13.5% share.

“Ford achieved our best yearly sales volume in Europe since 2009; maintained our CV leadership for the third successive year; and became the No. 3 brand in Germany,” said Ford of Europe Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Service Roelant de Waard. “With new Fiesta and EcoSport production up and running, Fiesta ST and Fiesta Active models coming soon, and an all-new Focus to look forward to, 2018 is set to be a strong year for Ford in Europe.”

Ford’s sales in its Euro 22 (which includes Turkey and Russia) were also up from 2016, rising by 16,500 units to 1,524,700 vehicles delivered on the year. For the Total Euro 50, Ford’s sales increased 21,300 vehicles to 1,562,100 vehicles delivered.

Ford’s top five markets by volume in 2017 were Britain (407,100 vehicles), making Ford once again the UK’s top car brand; Germany (292,300 vehicles), where Ford sold 8,800 more vehicles than in 2016 to ascend to the position of third-most-popular auto brand; Italy (156,000 vehicles); Turkey (116,200 vehicles); and France (113,200 vehicles).

In terms of top markets by share, Ford was led by Britain (13.8%); Turkey (11.9%); Ireland (11.4%); Hungary (11.3%); and Romania (8.9%).
