Ford Motor Company of Canada reported a record-setting performance in August, topping a sales mark for the month that had stood unbroken for 28 years.

Ford Canada’s sales in August totaled 28,987 vehicles, up 9.1% from the 26,581 vehicles sold in August 2015 and good for the automaker’s highest August total on record. Ford Cars were down 29.6% at a total of 3,672 units delivered; that was more than offset by an 18.5% year-over-year increase from trucks, vans, and SUVs, which totaled 25,315 units.

The Ford F-150 once again posted its best month ever with a 35% year-over-year sales increase, and the F-Series as a whole was up 27% for its best month ever. Ford Transit Van was up 18%, good for its best August ever; Mustang sales were up 33%; Transit Connect sales were up 28%; Escape sales were up 14%; and Expedition sales were up 392%.

“Canadians love their Ford F-Series pickups, as our trucks continue to dominate the segment year-after-year,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “With the all-new 2017 F-Series Super Duty hitting dealer showrooms and the all-new 2017 F-150 Raptor on the way, we look forward to exceeding our customer expectations.”

Lincoln posted its 12th straight month of growth with its best August sales performance since 1980. Lincoln sales rose 10% on the strength of increases from the MKZ, MKC, MKX, and Navigator.

“Lincoln’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality has resulted in strong growth in the luxury brand space. With Lincoln’s flagship vehicle, the all-new 2017 Lincoln Continental coming this fall, we’re excited to broaden our discerning customer base even further,” said Craig.
