Ford Motor Company Sales Up 6.2% in October; Ford Truck Sales Rise 11.4%

Ford October 2017 Sales

Ford Motor Company sales totaled 200,436 vehicles in October, good for a 6.2% year-over-year increase. Ford saw a 3.5% gain in retail sales at 148,105 vehicles delivered, and fleet sales rose 14.6% at 52,331 vehicles. Total truck sales increased 11.4% with 93,248 trucks delivered, SUVs were up 5.3% with 63,339 vehicles sold, and car sales fell 2.4% with 43,849 vehicles delivered.

“F-Series produced another big sales gain for us in October,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, US Marketing, Sales, and Service. “Strong customer demand for high series Super Duty continues, and now we’re seeing the same for the new 2018 F-150. With sales up 15.9%, F-Series drove our overall truck sales to an 11.4% gain for the month.”

F-Series was indeed a key driver of growth for Ford Motor Company and the Ford brand, the latter of which saw sales increase 6.6% for the month with deliveries totaling 191,527 vehicles. F-Series sales totaled 75,974 trucks, and average transaction prices (ATPs) rose $4,000 year-over-year to $47,300 per truck. Super Duty ATPs were up $1,600 from 2016 at $55,200 per truck.

Ford-brand SUVs were up 4.6% in October at 57,637 vehicles delivered. Explorer was up 5% with 16,914 vehicles sold, Edge was up 36.9% with 11,036 vehicles sold—good for the Edge’s best October sales since its launch in 2007, and Flex was up 91.6% at 2,042 vehicles sold.

Ford car sales declined 0.6% with 40,642 vehicles delivered. Sales of the Focus rose 7.8% to 10,095 units, Fiesta was up 1.1% with sales totaling 3,418 vehicles, and Ford GT deliveries totaled 15 examples.

Lincoln’s October sales were down 1.8%, but the brand was bolstered by gains from the MKX, MKC, and Navigator.

With 10 months in the books, Ford’s total sales are down 2% at 2,133,895 vehicles. Ford brand sales are down 2.2% with a total of 2,042,264 vehicles delivered.
