Ford of Canada reported a sales decrease of 6% for the month of July with 27,182 units sold, bringing its year-to-date total to 161,329 vehicles sold (down 6.2% year-over-year). Car sales were up 2.7% overall at 5,874 units delivered, but truck sales were down 8.2% with 21,308 units delivered. Crossover sales were up 5% in July.

“Ford Employee Pricing kicked off in July at dealerships across Canada, making it even easier to get into a Ford,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “We are excited to see positive customer reaction continue for the all-new Canadian-built Ford Edge, the all-new Ford Mustang and the new 2016 Ford Explorer.”

As indicated by Craig, Ford’s biggest bright spots for July were once again the Mustang, Explorer, and Edge. Sales of the Mustang were up 31%, the Explorer was up 65%, and the Canadian-built Edge was up 14%. Other Ford models experiencing sales increases were the Fusion (up 25%), Taurus (up 41%), and Expedition (up 89%).

Despite the overall sales decreases, Ford of Canada remains steadfast that it’s taking the steps necessary to maximize profits.

“Sales are on-track with the overall business strategy. We are continuing to improve resale values since that’s important to our customers, and one of the steps we’ve taken is to reduce the number of fleet vehicles we sell to daily rental companies,” Craig noted.

Lincoln sales were up 5% in July thanks to positive momentum from the MKZ, MKS, and MKC, which were up 14%, 36%, and 26% respectively.
