Ford of Europe Posts Big February Increase Thanks to Record EcoSport, Kuga, Ranger Sales

Ford of Europe saw an 8% year-over-year sales increase in February with a total of 97,400 vehicles delivered in its Euro 20 markets—good for the automaker’s best February performance in a decade. Ford SUV sales were particularly stellar throughout the month, rising 37% year-over-year thanks to record months from EcoSport and Kuga and a solid outing from Edge.

“Ford of Europe built momentum in February, continuing our best start to the year since 2008,” said Ford of Europe Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Service Roelant de Waard. “We are growing sales in key segments, with strong performance in small cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles, including setting new records for Focus, EcoSport, Kuga, Transit, and Ranger.”

Focus sales rose 6% at 14,700 delivered, good for its best performance in the month of February since 2012. EcoSport sales rose 68% with 6,900 delivered, good for a new record for the month. Kuga also set a new February record with deliveries totaling 11,800 vehicles, as did the Ranger with a 15% year-over-year increase and a total of 3,000 trucks delivered.

Ford of Europe sales were also strong on a larger scale—Euro 22 sales increased 8.7% with 107,200 vehicles delivered, and Total Euro 50 sales rose 8.4% at 110,000 vehicles delivered. February also marked a solid month for market share gains with a 0.3 percentage point increase in the Euro 20 and 0.2 percentage point increase in the Euro 22 and Total Euro 50.

Germany was Ford’s largest volume market in February with 22,700 vehicles delivered, followed by Britain, Italy, France, and Spain. In terms of market share, Ford of Europe’s leaders were Britain, Hungary, Turkey, Ireland, and Finland.

Through February, Ford of Europe sales are up 4.7% in the Euro 20 at a total of 207,300 vehicles delivered.
