Ford and Parkmobile Make Paying for Parking Easier for Ford Drivers
Ford and Parkmobile set out to make paying for parking easier.
If you happen to own or drive a Ford vehicle that is Ford Sync AppLink-capable, this week’s International Consumer Electronics Show has already yielded a wealth of information that ensures a promising future. If you’re merely thinking of driving a Ford vehicle, the automaker is hard out to convince you to make the move in 2014. The latest development from CES sees a joint collaborative effort between Ford and Parkmobile, who is the leading provider of mobile parking payment services.
The Ford and Parkmobile partnership will soon see the pay-for-parking app become compatible with the Ford SYNC in-car connectivity system. By using the SYNC AppLink interface, drivers will be able to pay for their parking before ever reaching the lot with the use of an on-file credit or debit card. SYNC AppLink integration means that the user will never have to touch their mobile phone to do sure, assuring total concentration on busy city traffic during your morning, afternoon, or evening commute.
“Parkmobile simplifies the parking experience by eliminating the need to swipe a card or feed coins to a meter,” said Cherie Fuzzell, CEO, Parkmobile, in Ford’s official press statement. “We are excited to extend the Parkmobile offering to the connected car through our collaboration with Ford SYNC AppLink.
“Parkmobile looks forward to working with Ford to offer drivers a more robust means of driving and parking,” Fuzzell noted.
Parkmobile will utilize the advanced voice recognition-capabilities of Ford vehicles as well as the SYNC AppLink interface to provide drivers with the most convenient and secure manner for paying for parking possible. The Parkmobile app can be installed on any iOS or Android based smartphone; from there, Ford drivers need only press the SYNC voice button in their steering wheels and then follow voice prompts or directions on the in-vehicle display to complete their parking payment.
SYNC AppLink is available on 1.5 million-plus Ford vehicles such as the Fiesta, Mustang, Explorer, Transit Connect, Fusion, F-150, and Focus. Adding to Ford’s commitment to new software and making parking easier for its customers, it was also announced at CES that Ford would team with lot-finding app Parkopedia to allow for hassle-free parking lot locating.
