The Ford Performance brand was officially announced Thursday

Ford has announced that it is uniting SVT, Team RS, and Ford Racing under the new Ford Performance banner. More importantly, it has been announced that Ford Performance will bring more than 12 new performance vehicles to market by the year 2020.

Start getting excited now.

Need more? Along with confirmation of the Ford Performance brand, it was revealed that one of the very first new models revealed under the sub-brand will be the long-rumored Focus RS.

Other vehicles confirmed for Ford Performance are the Fiesta ST and Focus ST, Shelby GT350 Mustang and the F-150 Raptor.

A new F-150 Raptor based on the newer and lighter generation and perfect for hooning? The Giant, your thoughts?

Ford didn’t reveal much else about other vehicles that could be a part of the sub-brand (here’s hoping plans indeed call for a revival of the Ford GT), but it did announce that its new brand will be led by Dave Pericak, who it named director of Global Ford Performance.

The Blue Oval may wind up blowing the roof off of the Detroit Auto Show next month, with a report from Road & Track stating that the Ford GT, F-150 Raptor, and a high-performance Shelby Mustang GT350R will all be on hand to represent Ford Performance. While R&T believes that the Focus RS won’t poke its head out until Geneva, Car and Driver says that they have it on good authority that it will debut in Detroit as well.

For a final word on today’s news, we go to former WWE Champions Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Fellas?
