Ford Wins Three TrueCar Pre-Owned Value Awards

According to TrueCar, the 2014 Ford F-150, Edge, and Transit Connect will bring in the most bang for one’s buck in their respective segments upon resale in 2016. The three aforementioned vehicles all won awards for their segments in TrueCar’s first-ever Pre-Owned Value Awards, which seeks to determine which vehicles from the 2014 model year will retain the largest percentage of their original values if they were to be sold this year.

“The range of high-quality products re-entering the market as pre-owned vehicles grows ever more impressive year by year as automakers are paying more attention to small details that help preserve the resale value of a vehicle,” said Jim Nguyen, TrueCar Executive Vice President and general manager of ALG. “This award is designed to identify used vehicles that will hold the highest percentage of their value over the next three years. For potential used car buyers, unlocking value is an important part of the purchase consideration, and as Certified Pre-Owned programs expand, consumers will benefit from the improved quality and reliability offered as a result of these refinements.”

The always-reliable Ford F-150 topped the full-size pickup segment, which is in keeping with the numerous other awards the namebadge has earned for cost-to-own and retained value. Just last year, ALG, TrueCar’s analytics division, determined that the next-generation F-150 should have even greater residual value than the 2014 model, which seemingly telegraphs back-to-back awards for the truck.

The 2014 Transit Connect earned the top prize for midsize commercial vehicles, adding another accolade for the automaker’s incredibly popular van and wagon. The Transit Connect has won a number of other awards for retained value, including being named the 2015 Best Retained Value Small Commercial Van by Edmunds.com.

The Edge topped all midsize utility vehicles offering second row seating, and given the fact that Ford called the 2015 Edge “a better vehicle by every measure,” it would not be terribly surprising for a repeat performance in the second-annual awards.

According to TrueCar, the Pre-Owned Value Awards are decided by “careful analysis of used vehicle performance, brand outlook, and product competitiveness.”
