Ford Production Moves to Ohio from Mexico
Ford is ensuring even more of its trucks are made in the United States, as it has announced plans to move production of the F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks from its current location in Escobedo, Mexico to Ford’s Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, OH.
According to an AutoBlog.com report, Ford’s move from Mexico to Ohio “is part of Ford’s long-term plan to move more commercial vehicle production to the US because it ‘will be able to streamline and strengthen the engineering and manufacturing of our next generation medium-duty trucks.’” The move was reaffirmed once again at this week’s NTEA Work Truck Show, where Ford revealed the 2016 models of their F-650 and F-750 commercial trucks.
Ford announced the shift in production back in 2011, and in an investor release, noted that the transition would happen once the Ohio plant stops current production of the Ford E Series vans. According to Ford’s press release for the new F-650 and F-750, Ford production moves to Ohio from Mexico sometime next spring ahead of the commercial trucks’ release.
