Go Red for WomenFord, via its charitable appendage Ford Motor Company Fund, has committed $10,000 to the Lexington, Kentucky efforts in the Go Red for Women campaign.

Go Red for Women, a national project created by the American Heart Association, seeks to raise awareness of heart disease in women.  Studies show that heart disease is the number one killer of women, responsible for approximately 33% of all deaths in women each year and for the death of about one woman every minute.

The Ford Fund, who also offered a $10,000 grant to AHA in 2012, presented the check at a Lexington Legends game dedicated to Go Red for Women.  The grant is a further effort in Ford’s Operation Better World program, which seeks to aid organizations that support community needs in Central and Eastern Kentucky.

If you know anyone affected by heart disease, want to learn what factors put you or someone you love at risk for heart disease, or simply want to get involved in the campaign, visit www.goredforwomen.org or this link to make a donation of your own.
