Ford has announced that it is extending its partnership with Team Sky for an additional two years, staying on as the cycling team’s sponsor and vehicle provider through 2019. As a means of celebrating the extension, Ford has created a special version of its 2017 Focus RS equipped with Option Pack that adds a custom bicycle rack, specially-developed Reacaro seating, and a white Team Sky livery. “Racing on two wheels is increasingly capturing the imagination of sports fans across Europe – and is underpinned by the best possible support on four wheels. We are excited to continue to support Team Sky in their pursuit of further cycling success,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.
“We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Ford—a company with the same principles of tackling challenges that we at Team Sky have,” said Sir David Brailsford, team principal at Team Sky. “Ford vehicles play a vital role for Team Sky and their knowledge and support makes them an integral part of our team.”
For the 2017 Tour de France, Team Sky is utilizing its trusty fleet consisting of liveried S-MAX, Edge, and Transit vehicles. For this year’s campaign, it adds seven new Ford Mondeo wagons with Intelligent All Wheel Drive, and a Focus RS Option Pack will lead the way as the daily recon car. In total. Team Sky’s fleet of Ford now totals 25 vehicles.
