Ford Focus and Escort

The reveal of the all-new Ford Focus sedan took place in Chongqing, China, this month, and while the Go Further event at which it debuted focused to a large extent on the Focus, it also saw the debut of the new Ford Escort and various other product announcements.

“We are excited to host the global unveiling of Ford’s most important product, the all-new Focus, right here in Chongqing, and reveal our latest Escort,” said Peter Fleet, group vice president and president, Asia Pacific, Ford Motor Company. “These launches are a testament to Ford’s ongoing commitment to China’s critical midsize car market. We’ve assembled a brilliant lineup that we know Chinese customers are going to love.”

Among the announcements specific to the next-generation Focus was the fact that it will bring the ST-Line trim to China after its successful implementation in Europe. The next-generation Focus will also be the first vehicle in China to sport Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of standard driver-assist technologies that make Ford’s vehicles among the safest on the road.

New Ford Escort

The new Escort, following the lineage of the vehicle that has sold 800,000 units since launching at the end of 2014, will be more aesthetically modern in order to better appeal to young professionals and families.

“With the Escort, we are offering greater value to our customers in the compact car segment in China,” said He Chaobing, executive vice president, Changan Ford Automobile. “The new Escort delivers smart styling and premium features that are bound to excite and delight today’s young Chinese drivers.”

Ford also announced that despite the arrival of the next-generation Focus, it will continue production of the current-generation model.
