Ford’s sales were down 1.7% in February, a month wherein people tend not to want to buy cars. Due to the usual horrors that February incurs upon Americans, the preference of new car shoppers everywhere tends to be trucks and utilities. Ford was more than happy to oblige.

Ford moved 55,236 F-Series trucks in February, bringing its to-date total to 109,606 units.

“Strong customer demand for the all-new F-150 drove strong February F-Series retail sales results in February,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “The all-new F-150 continues to be the hottest vehicles on dealer lots, turning more than four times faster than the industry’s overall full-size pickup segment.”

Overall, Ford Truck sales were up 4% when factoring sales of the E-Series (4,396 units), Transit (6,750 units), Transit Connect (2,790 units), and heavy duty trucks (710 units).

Ford’s utility sales were down 4%, but the Explorer put forth another strong month with 17,027 deliveries, up 31.8% year-over-year. The Expedition added 3,277 sales, up 15.8%, and the Escape threw in another 20,915 units.

Ford cars were down almost entirely across the board. The lone exception was—you guessed it—the 2015 Ford Mustang. The new ‘Stang continues its huge roll with a 8,454-sale February, bringing its to-date total to 17,148 units. Thus far, the Mustang is selling two-thirds better than it was at the beginning of 2014.
