Ford Sales in Canada Increase 22.5 Percent in February

Ford Motor Company reported a 22.5% year-over-year sales increase in February, led by record sales of the F-Series and Canadian-built Edge. Ford’s cumulative sales in February totaled 18,403 vehicles between both the Ford and Lincoln brands, bringing the company’s to-date sales total through two months to 35,050. Ford’s sales through February are 18.3% better than the 29,616 vehicles sold through February 2015.

“New vehicle sales in Canada are off to a fast start this year with consumers continuing to make Ford their favourite automotive brand,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “With more of our most popular vehicles available at Ford dealerships, our Costco incentive starting, and the new Ford Escape and new Ford Fusion on the way, we expect this sales momentum to continue.”

Ford’s total car sales for the month totaled 2,453 units, up 5.8% from February 2015. Vehicles of note for the month include Fiesta (up 2%), C-MAX (up 33%), Mustang (up 52%), Fusion (up 23%). To-date, car sales are up 7% at a total of 4,614 vehicles delivered.

Truck sales were up 25.5% at 15,950 vehicles delivered, with the F-Series (up 26%), F-150 (up 28%), and Edge (up 134%) all putting up their best February sales ever. Other major movers include the E-Series (up 28%), Transit Van (up 10%), Transit Connect (up 24%), Explorer (up 39%), and Expedition (up 5%). To-date, sales of trucks and utilities are up 20.3% at a total of 30,436 vehicles sold.

Lincoln brand sales were up 7% in February, marking a sixth straight month of growth. MKC sales rose 9%, MKX sales increased 66%, and Navigator sales grew 29%.
