Ford Motor Company sales totaled 87,733 units in China last month, a 3% year-over-year decline. Ford’s sales drop-off came entirely from its Changan Ford Automobile (CAF) joint venture, which saw a 12% downturn in sales at 59,276 units delivered.

Sales for Jiangling Motor Corporation (JMC), on the other hand, were the highest they have ever been in May at 22,706 units delivered, up 15% year-over-year. Lincoln Motor Company continues its push to double up 2016 sales with a 73% sales increase in May at 4,112 units delivered, and import sales rose 9% at 1,639 units.

“We remain on track to deliver sales growth in the second quarter,” said Peter Fleet, Vice President, Marketing, Sales, and Service, Asia Pacific, Ford Motor Company. “For May, Lincoln and JMC achieved their best May sales result ever. We’ve strengthened our marketing plan in China for the second quarter, with new and exciting customer promotions for Ford-branded vehicles.”

Every vehicle in the CAF lineup saw year-over-year declines in May; Escort and Focus led the way in terms of volume with respective sales totals of 19,288 units and 12,716 units. Through May, CAF sales are down 22% at 289,728 units with the Taurus and Edge posting respective to-date increases of 4% and 3%.

JMC sales got a big boost in May from the Ford Tourneo, up 158% year-over-year at 421 units delivered, and totals of 956 units delivered for the Yusheng S330 and 2,648 units for the JMC Teshun. After five months, JMC sales are up 16% at 118,887 units.

Lincoln continued to cruise with across the board sales increases for the MKZ, MKC, MKX, and Navigator. Continental sales totaled 764 units in May, bringing its to-date total to 3,362 units. Lincoln has thus far doubled its sales from 2016 at 20,376 units.

Import sales were strong in May, with deliveries of the Focus ST and RS up 540% at 32 units in total and F-150 Raptor deliveries totaling 194 units. Through May, import sales are up 12% at 7,970 vehicles delivered.
