Ford experienced a 7% year-over-year drop in sales in China last month, with deliveries totaling 84,474 vehicles throughout July. Changan Ford Automobile (CAF) sales were down 16% year-over-year with 58,288 vehicles delivered, Jiangling Motor Company Sales were up 11% with 19,772 vehicles delivered, Lincoln sales rose 68% at 4,713 vehicles delivered, and import sales were up 24% at 1,701 vehicles delivered.

“We had strong July sales of JMC, Lincoln, and imported Ford-branded vehicles, all of which experienced double-digit growth,” said Mark Ovenden, Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Services for Asia Pacific, Ford Motor Company. “Dealership traffic and sales rates also improved in the second half of July. We look forward to sustaining the momentum for Lincoln as well as strengthening our SUV portfolio by introducing the new EcoSport in the second half.”

Though CAF’s sales were down double digits, it got a boost from the Mondeo, which saw sales rise 17% at 7,981 vehicles delivered. EcoSport sales were also up, growing 7% year-over-year with 2,992 vehicles delivered.

JMC sales saw gains thanks to double-digit gains from the Ford Tourneo and Ford Everest, as well as strong numbers from the new JMC Teshun and Yusheng S330.

Lincoln sales were once again impressive with the MKZ, MKC, MKX, and Navigator all posting double-digit gains for the month. Continental sales also broke the four-digit barrier. Through July, Lincoln has nearly doubled its sales through July 2016 with a total of 29,254 vehicles delivered.

Sales of imports were strong thanks to the continued success of the F-150 Raptor and a 25% uptick in sales for the Mustang.

To date, Ford’s total sales in China amount to 621,996 vehicles, down 7% from the pace set through July 2017.
