Ford Sales in China Surpass 1 Million Vehicles in November

Ford sales in China have surpassed 1 million units thanks to a record-high 124,113 vehicles delivered in November. Ford achieved the seven-figure sales mark a month quicker than it did in 2015, putting it well on pace to achieve a new full-year sales record.

“Ford is gaining more momentum in China each month and we are on pace for a record year in China,” said Peter Fleet, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service, Asia Pacific. “We are seeing increasing demand across our lineup, particularly our full family of SUVs.”

Sales of Ford vehicles and the vehicles of Ford’s joint ventures were up 17% year-over-year. Changan Ford Automobile sales were up 14% year-over-year at 96,191 vehicles delivered, Jiangling Motor Corporation sales were up 29% at 26,285 units, and import vehicle sales increased 45% at 1,637 units.

Sales of Ford SUVs were once again strong in November, led by a 73% increase from the Explorer and 21% increase from the Edge. With regards to the latter, year-to-date sales are more than double what they were through the first 11 months of 2015.

Sales of the Ford Focus were up 28%, sales of the Encore increased nearly 50%, and sales of the Mustang rose 48%.

Through November, Ford’s total sales in China have reached 1,090,294 units, up 10.7% from 2015’s running total of 984,822 units. Sales of CAF vehicles total 841,841 units, up 14%, while sales of JMC vehicles are up 5% at 232,863 units.
