The Ford Mustang was the best-selling sports car on the planet in 2015

Ford and its Chinese joint ventures delivered a total of 64,641 vehicles in February, a year-over-year increase of 2% from sales in February 2016. Sales of Changan Ford Automobile vehicles totaled 42,695 units, down 12% year-over-year, while Jiangling Motor Corporation sales jumped 48% with 20,794 units. Import vehicle sales also saw an increase, growing 12% year-over-year with 1,152 units sold.

“We continue to see strong demand from Chinese customers for our three-row Edge SUV and luxurious Taurus large sedan, along with our performance lineup led by our iconic Mustang,” said Peter Fleet, Vice President, Marketing, Sales, and Service, Asia Pacific, Ford Motor Company. “We are also excited by the fantastic early response to the upcoming launch of our F-150 Raptor in China.”

Sales of the Ford Edge increased 20% year-over-year while sales of the Everest leapt 34%. Sales of the Ford Taurus were up 9%, and sales of the Focus ST and RS combined for a 67% year-over-year increase. Ford also reported triple-digit growth for the Mustang.

Despite the increase in February, Ford’s total sales in China are down 21% after two months with 153,073 vehicles delivered to date. Import sales are up 15% with 3,172 vehicles delivered, JMC sales are up 31% at 41,043 units, and CAF sales are down 32% at 108,858 units. Despite the downturn for CAF, Ford notes that it is “rebuilding order banks in the first quarter,” showroom traffic has been on an upward swing, and that it expects numbers to improve with the launch of new vehicles such as the EcoSport later this year.
