Ford Sales Rise in July as F-Series, Mustang, Transit Soar
Overall Ford sales were up 4.9% in July with the Ford brand up 4.3%, good for the automaker’s best July sales mark in nine years. The Ford F-Series also enjoyed its best month at retail in nine years, and Ford’s commercial vans had their best July since 2000.
“We continue seeing even stronger demand for our newest products, especially F-150, Explorer, Edge, Mustang and Transit,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “With continued improvement in inventory, F-Series retail momentum continued building in July. Customers truly value the new F-150’s capability, performance and fuel efficiency.”
Ford Trucks were up 5.7% overall thanks to a 4.8% gain for the F-Series and an 8,025 unit month for the Transit. Through seven months, Ford has sold 423,468 F-Series trucks and 65,668 Transits in addition to 28,980 Transit Connects and 31,225 E-Series vans/cutaways.
The Ford Utilities division was up 11.4% overall thanks to almost wall-to-wall growth. Escape was up 10.1%, Edge was up 17%, Flex was up 0.2%, and Explorer was up 27.2%. To date, Ford has sold 431,155 utility vehicles in the United States.
Once again, the 2015 Ford Mustang had a killer month with 8,482 sales for a 29.2% year-over-year gain. Through seven months, Mustang is crushing the competition with 76,772 ponies sold and a whopping 51.1% year-over-year increase.
Through July, the Ford brand has moved 1,459,704 vehicles in the US, up 2.1% from its pace through July 2014.
