Ford Motor Company reported a 4% sales increase in April, delivering a total of 231,316 vehicles in the United States between the Ford and Lincoln brands. Of that figure, 65,474 units were SUVs, giving the automaker its best April for SUV sales in history.

Retail sales were up 3% in April, good for Ford’s best April mark in a decade. Lincoln brand sales were up 20.2%.

“We saw strong consumer demand in April, especially for pickups,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “F-Series has moved past the quarter-million sales mark year to date—the strongest start for F-Series in a decade, while Ford brand SUVs are having their best year ever.”

F-Series truck sales were up an impressive 12.6% with a total of 70,774 units delivered. To date, Ford has already sold 256,895 F-Series trucks in the United States, a 7% improvement over its first four months in 2015. Ford brand trucks were up 14.8% on the whole thanks to a 15.2% increase for the E-Series, 31.8% increase for Transit, and 86.4% increase for heavy trucks.

SUV sales were up 4.4% at a total of 65,474 units, an improvement driven largely by a 22.3% year-over-year gain for the Explorer. Ford sold 20,283 Explorers in April, second only to the Escape’s 23,920 units in terms of volume. Through four months, Ford’s SUV sales have also crossed the quarter-million mark at 253,574 units, up 12% from sales through April 2015. Every SUV in Ford’s lineup has increased sales over the course of the first third of the year.

Ford car sales were down 11.5% and are down 2.2% to-date. The C-MAX continues to have an impressive year, up 24.5% in April and up 3.2% through four months, while the Taurus posted a 4.9% increase in April and is up 26.8% to-date.
