Coming Soon: What you can expect from the returning Ford Bronco

“In January, more than 30,000 UK car and van drivers picked up new Fords, delivering 15% of the market—our highest share in two and a half years. Having enjoyed our biggest January volume since 1990, we’re now looking at another sales peak to come in March. With the Vehicle Excise Duty—or road tax—system changing significantly from April, we anticipate another strong month as buyers move fast to avoid the tax increase.”

Ford’s retail car share in January was 12.6%, a full 4.5 percentage points ahead of the closest competitor. Retail sales were led yet again by the Fiesta, which accounted for 4,568 sales. In total, sales of the Fiesta totaled 8,495 units, good for a 4.9% market share for the month. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, total car sales in the UK for January rose 2.9% at 174,564 registrations.

The Ford Fiesta was joined by the C-MAX with regards to topping its respective segment, while the Focus, Galaxy, and Mustang all finished second in their segments.

Ford CVs also pulled a 36.1% market share in January, the highest January share for commercial vehicles in 27 years. The Fiesta Van, Transit Courier, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Transit, and Ranger all topped their respective segments. Ford set a new full-year sales record for CVs in 2016.
