Ford Sees Best-Ever July Sales as F-150, Transit Hit Record Highs
While the US auto industry saw a down month in July, Ford Motor Company of Canada saw no such symptoms of slowing. In fact, last month saw Ford’s best July sales on record, led by big months for trucks and vans.
Ford and Lincoln sales in July totaled 29,778 vehicles, up 9.6% year-over-year from the 27,182 vehicles sold in July 2015. The tally brings Ford of Canada’s cumulative sales through seven months to 179,720 vehicles, up 11.4% from the 161,329 vehicles sold through July 2015.

“Record sales in July further cements Ford as the number one automotive brand in Canada,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “Canadians continue to choose Ford vehicles over the competition, with strength across the lineup in July—from Ford Mustang, to Ford Escape, to another monthly sales record for Ford F-Series.”
In addition to the July sales record for the F-Series—spurred by 21% growth—the F-150 saw a 25% year-over-year increase and the Transit Van saw a 21% year-over-year-increase, both also leading to July records.
Total car sales were down 1.6% at 5,782 vehicles delivered. Sales of the C-MAX were up 6%, Focus sales were up 40%, Mustang sales were up 9%, and Taurus sales were up 28%. Through July, Ford’s car sales are down 10.6% at a total of 30,187 units delivered.
Truck sales were up 12.6% at 23,996 units delivered, led by the F-Series, F-150, Transit Van, E-Series (up 61%), Transit Connect (up 6%), Escape (up 25%), and Flex (up 35%). Through seven months, Ford’s truck sales total 149,533 units, up 17.2%.
Lincoln brand sales were up 8%, marking the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth. Sales of the MKX were up 84%, and MKZ sales were up 3%.
