Ford is reaffirming its commitment to growth in Morocco after the automaker took a spot among the country’s three most popular automotive brands and pulled down a 10% market share in 2016. Bernat Szabo, Managing Director, Ford North Africa sees this not only as a success for the year gone by, but a promising sign for the years ahead in Morocco.

“This year we took the Ford brand to greater heights together with our local dealer partner, SCAMA,” said Szabo. “Securing a steady 10% market share and becoming one of the three best-selling brands in Morocco means that more and more customers are voting for Ford vehicles and services thanks to our ongoing commitment to deliver an outstanding ownership experience.”

2016 was also a big year for Ford in Morocco given the establishment of North African regional headquarters, including Sales and Marketing offices in Casablanca and Purchasing offices in Tangier. This established foothold paved the way for the debut of Ford Credit, as well as initiatives including increased local component sourcing and the launch of the Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy.

The European-made Mondeo, Focus, Kuga, and Transit are among the Ford vehicles built with Moroccan-sourced components. The increased commitment to component sourcing helped create 6,000 new jobs.

The Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy supports the entrepreneurial spirit with courses that help prospective innovators learn necessary skills for growth. This includes providing knowledge about the operations of the business world at large, financial tools, mentoring, and familiarization with social networks.

“Morocco is one of the most important and fastest growing markets in the region for Ford Motor Company,” said Simonetta Verdi, director of Ford’s Government Affairs and Community Relations in Middle East and Africa. “Our commitment to the kingdom and its local communities is stronger than ever and we are proud of the initiatives we helped introduce locally.”
