2016 was yet another record year for Ford in China, and the automaker capped things off in December with another month of double-digit growth. Ford and its joint ventures combined to deliver sales of 149,856 vehicles in December, up 21% from sales in December 2015.

Changan Ford Automobile sales were up 19% in December with 115,654 vehicles delivered, Jiangling Motors Corporation sales were up 28% with 32,193 vehicles delivered, and import vehicle sales were up 41.8% with 2,009 vehicles delivered.

CAF sales totaled 957,495 vehicles for the year, up 14% from the 836,425 units sold in 2015. JMC sales totaled 265,056 vehicles, up 7% from the 246,615 vehicles delivered. Import sales totaled 17,599 vehicles, down 30.5% from 2015.

“We have built some great sales momentum in China, particularly in the second half of 2016, on the strength of our expanded vehicle lineup,” said Peter Fleet, vice president of Marketing, Sales, and Service, Asia Pacific. “Record numbers of customers are choosing our three-row Edge crossover, elegant Taurus sedan, Explorer premium SUV, and Lincoln luxury vehicles.”

Sales of the Edge increased 123% over 2015, while the new Taurus experienced its best sales month even in December on the way to cruising past 32,000 units sold for the year.

Lincoln sales for 2016 totaled 32,558 units, nearly tripling 2015’s total of 11,630. With all Ford and Lincoln sales combined, Ford Motor Company sales in China totaled 1,272,708 vehicles in 2016, up 14.8% from 2015’s final tally.
