Ford Sets October Sales Record in China

The Ford Mustang was the best-selling sports car on the planet in 2015

Ford and its Chinese joint ventures delivered a new October sales record with 107,618 vehicles delivered throughout the country last month. The 13.6% year-over-year sales gain was led by strong performances from the Mustang, Edge, Focus, and Escort among others.

“We had a strong October and we are headed for our best year ever for sales in China,” said Peter Fleet, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service, Asia Pacific. “We are seeing the benefits of a much more exciting lineup and an even stronger focus on the wants and needs of Chinese customers.”

Changan Ford sales totaled 82,368 units, up 10.1% from the 74,820 units delivered in October 2015. Through 10 months, CAF sales are up 13.9% with a total of 745,650 vehicles delivered.

Sales of the Mustang were up 60%, sales of the Edge were up 93%, sales of the Explorer were up 30%, sales of the Focus were up 15%, and sales of the Escort were up 34%.

Jiangling Motor Corporation sales totaled 23,949 vehicles, up 28.5% from the 18,632 vehicles sold last October. To date, JMC sales are up 2.7% at a total of 206,578 units delivered.

Import sales for October totaled 1,301 units, up 0.4% from the 1,295 imports sold in October 2015. Through 10 months, import sales have declined 38.8% at a total of 13,953 units.

Through 10 months, Ford and its joint ventures have delivered a total of 966,181 vehicles at retail in China, up 9.9% from the 878,837 vehicles delivered through the first 10 months of last year.
