Ford reported that it was once again the tip brand in the United Kingdom for total vehicle, passenger car, and commercial vehicle sales, with CV sales setting a new September record for volume at more than 20,000 registrations.

“Vehicle sales are boosted in September due to the number plate change, and in combination with March sales account for a third of the UK annual total,” said Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director. “Ford’s best-ever car and CV ranges have contributed to Ford sales for March and September combined exceeding 150,000.

“Ford’s long-standing UK market leadership—39 years for cars, 50 years for CVs—is testament to the exciting products and industry-leading technologies we continue to bring to the market. The Mustang and Focus RS continue to win plaudits, as do our new Mondeo, Fiesta, and Focus ST-Line derivative series, which will be joined soon by the Kuga ST-Line.”

Ford’s car sales in September totaled 49,078 units, and its market share reached 10.7%. Through nine months, Ford’s car sales are more than 50,000 registrations better than its closest rival at 254,220 units, and its market share is 4.5 points better than the nearest competitor at 12.1%.

Through nine months, the Fiesta is once again the best-selling car in the UK, with 31,214 more sales than its nearest competitor at a total of 96,139 registrations. The Fiesta, Focus, C-MAX, Kuga, and Galaxy all rank in the top three of their respective segments.

CV sales totaled 19,434 in September, marking the second highest monthly total of all time behind March 2016’s total of 20,735 units. Through nine months, Ford CV sales are up 19.2% year-over-year at 90,141 units.
