Ford's PACE Program outlined at the G7 Alliance on Resource Efficiency

Ford this week shared the details of its Ford Partnership for A Cleaner Environment (PACE) Program at the G7 Alliance on Resource Efficiency at a workshop scheduled for Tuesday in Washington D.C. The program strives to aid the company’s suppliers in the endeavor of cutting carbon emissions and water and energy usage in manufacturing and other processes.

“We are committed to expanding our stewardship with our global suppliers to help minimize our environmental impact more broadly,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford group vice president, global purchasing. “By sharing our practices and our processes at the G7 Alliance on Resource Efficiency workshop, we hope to foster innovation and collaboration to address sustainability-related issues and advance environmental responsibility.”

Ford began testing its PACE program in 2014, and it has since grown to encompass 25 suppliers covering 800 different manufacturing sites over 41 countries. Ford has been open about its aspirations to contribute to environmental wellness, including becoming the first automaker to join the Electronic Industry Citizen Coalition and the most recent corporation to discontinue its partnership with the Koch-backed American Legislative Exchange Council.

The G7 Alliance unites Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States in the effort of promoting the improvement of health, the empowerment of women, and protection and stewardship of the environment. The G7 Alliance on Resource Efficiency focuses specifically on sharing best practices and advancements utilized by businesses and agencies.

Earlier this month, Ford was also named as one of the 2016 Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for the seventh consecutive year.
