2015 Focus production gets underway at Ford Sollers’ Vsevolozhsk Assembly Plant

Ford Sollers, a joint venture in Russia, is beginning production of the all-new Ford Focus at the Vsevolozhsk plant near St. Petersburg. There, the new Focus will be built in three different body styles—sedan, hatchback, and wagon—and sold domestically with 18 new and upgraded technologies.

“More than 720,000 Ford Focus cars have been sold in Russia since the car first went on-sale 13 years ago and for many years it was Russia’s No.1 top-selling car—that’s a tremendous record,” said Ted Cannis, President and CEO, Ford Sollers.

“The new Focus—the most technologically-advanced Focus ever—will strengthen our position in the market and is sure to be a big hit with our customers.”

Earlier this year, Ford Sollers launched production of the new Mondeo at the Ford Sollers Vsevolozhsk Assembly Plant. The plant also began production of the new Ford EcoSport last December. The plant has been extensively upgraded since 2002, receiving $400 million in investments in the past 13 years.

The new Focus will be the first model sold in Russia with the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and it will feature new technologies including Active City Stop collision avoidance, Active Park Assist, and MyKey technology.
