New Ford Explorer in Russia

Ford Sollers recently began production on the new Ford Explorer at its assembly plant in Elabuga, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. The new Explorer will be available to Russian customers at a starting price of 2,599,000 Roubles, and it will be available in four trims—XLT, Limited, Limited Plus, and Sport.

The new Explorer will be powered by either the Cyclone 3.5-liter V6 or a 3.5-liter EcoBoost, which deliver 249 horsepower and 345 horsepower, respectively.

“The new Explorer is the fifth new Ford model Ford Sollers is launching on the market this year, and the sixth production launch in 2015, following the new Ford Fiesta, the new Ford Focus, the all-new Ford Mondeo and the new Transit, as well as the recent start of local engine production,” said Mark Ovenden, president and CEO, Ford Sollers. “This allows us to offer our Russian customers a vehicle line-up that is one of the freshest in the Russian auto industry and which has great products in every market segment.”

Ford Sollers kicked off production at its all-new Elabuga Engine Plant this past September, where the company is building the 1.6-liter Duratec engine for the Russian-built Fiesta and Focus.
