Ford Sollers Sales Up 17% in August
Ford Sollers announced on Friday that August sales were up 17% in Russia this past August, a feat made even more significant given Ford’s press release calling attention to the “continuing overall decline in the automotive market.”
Ford Sollers’ sales were not particularly significant volume-wise, totaling only 4,500 vehicles. Still, for the Russian market, the number was a significant increase, and one spurred on by the continued popularity of models including the Fiesta, Mondeo, EcoSport, Kuga, and Explorer.
The Ford Fiesta crossed the 1,000 unit sales mark in August after only coming to the market in July. The Mondeo tripled its sales from August 2014, thanks in large part to the introduction of the new model introduced in Russia this past April. Ford’s SUV sales were also up 5% with the continued success of the EcoSport, Kuga, and Explorer.
Ford has launched four new models in 2015 alone, including the all-new Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta, and Transit. Earlier this year, Ford Sollers kicked off production of the new Mondeo and Focus at the Ford Sollers Vsevolozhsk Assembly Plant. A new engine plant has also begun production in Elabuga, Tartastan.
Ford has yet to announce full August results for Europe.
